The rooftop had the view and none of the softness: hard decking, full sun, and wind strong enough to make a living garden a constant fight. Getting water to planters several storeys up was its own problem, and the structure had limits on how much weight it could carry.
We designed greenery held low and deliberate against the wind, with foliage rated for unshaded sun and planters weighted and anchored to the deck within its load limits. No irrigation to carry up, no bleaching through summer, and a terrace that finally reads as a garden in the sky through every season.
A bare, windswept rooftop became a year-round planted terrace that holds its shape and colour with zero irrigation and no strain on the structure.
